I always felt a special love for seahorses (Hippocampus). I was really getting sad while finishing this piece of art … stupid humans, destroying everything and trying to get the last specimens before complete extinction.

Many species of seahorse are threatened with extinction because of human activities. Their habitats are destroyed by fisheries. They are caught and used as medicine or dried and sold to tourists. They are also caught and sold as aquarium fish, but most do not survive as seahorses are very hard to keep.

Vendo uma obra assim me faz lembrar que, não é só por que um aquário é de vidro e tem água, que também não é uma prisão como uma jaula (foi algo que meu pai me disse, sobre eu pegar um baiacu no mar, quando eu tinha quatro anos) :)
